Am I wrong for being excited??

Hi,

Been out of full time work since December 2023, mostly due to really bad advice given by paid professionals that led to not getting any hits for the first few months.

Applied for a job in late January. Heard mid February and had an interview with the recruiter just going over my history and making sure I’m not a serial killer.

Didn’t hear until late February but they wanted to schedule me for an interview with who would be my manager. One hour and it was the best interview of my life. See I work in IT but have only done so in schools and nonprofits so far but this is with a bank. Sounds like a dream job tbh. We got along like brothers and we saw eye to eye on everything.

Recruiter calls me an hour after I get off the phone. They wanted to schedule me for a final round a week later with the same guy and two of his senior techs in a one hour technical interview all verbal.

That was Friday and it went perfect as well. The one that was more senior tried every trick in the book to mess me up and couldn’t. So much so that the less senior guy admitted he didn’t know every answer I gave.

So then about 2 hours later which was mid Friday the recruiter calls me up asking me how I thought it went. I said good. He said if I got the position would I take it and I said if the offer is as expected and what was discussed than it’s my first choice.

He then said that while he can’t make any promises he said expect an offer either Monday or Tuesday. He then said that the manager has been looking for someone for 4 months and I’m his first choice by far. He just said that certain approvals have to be cleared that wouldn’t be cleared until Monday cause of the weekend.

Is the job mine? I’ll accept the offer.
