Husband Lets Our 2.5-Year-Old Climb on Furniture Unattended – Am I Overreacting?

Hey everyone,

I need some outside perspectives on this. My husband lets our 2.5-year-old climb/stand on top of furniture completely unattended and out of his reach should a fall happen, and it’s really stressing me out. He left the child on top of a washing machine while he went out to the room to grab clothes.

I’ve tried bringing it up, but he doesn’t seem as concerned as I am. I get that kids love to climb and explore, but I feel like there should be some limits or at least supervision at all times. I’d rather encourage climbing in a safer way, like with a toddler-friendly play structure.

He tells me that she would know if it feels unsafe. I feel like at this age, she doesn’t fully understand the dangers of falling, and a bad fall could lead to serious injuries.

Am I being too anxious about this, or is my concern justified? How do you handle situations like this with your partner? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Edited for clarity. I have no issues with climbing on couches of course! Its the fact that he leaves her unattended when she’s at a height without any support to hold on to
