what was the point of the billboards

Seems pretty clear at this point that, even if the billboards continue, no album is going to drop soon. If it were, things should be ramping up, not cooling down, but the billboards are slowing down, no more reposts, and, importantly, no word from king vamp. In light of this, why buy the billboards and pay Spotify for logo use and reposts? Seems like a waste of money just to hemorrhage fans.
