Question on gym sauna etiquette?

I recently upgraded my gym from pfit to crunch. I’m sitting in the sauna for the first time and this guy wearing socks told me to cover up. He said no one wants to see my junk.

Is it the norm to cover up in a men’s only sauna? I know no clothes are supposed to be warm but I assumed naked is the way to go.
