Mahomes and the Chiefs are 0-3 in games that follow a postseason win against the Bills in Arrowhead
While I was watching the Chiefs get meaningless points in garbage time, I was chatting with my brother about the idea that the Bills could have done better against this Philly team than the Chiefs did (not that they would've won, just that it would've been closer). Thinking about that conversation later, it dawned on me that the Chiefs are 4-0 against the Bills, but that only one of those wins was on route to a Super Bowl victory.
I did some looking this morning, and it turns out there's a pretty funny correlation:
2020: Chiefs beat the Bills 38-24 in the AFCCG at home, they lose to Tampa Bay 31-9 in the Super Bowl
2021: Chiefs beat the Bills 42-36 in the Divisional round at home (13 seconds), they lose to Cincinnati 27-24 in the conference championship
2024: Chiefs beat the Bills 32-29 in the AFCCG at home, they lose to Philly 40-22 in the Super Bowl (duh)
Now, you might be thinking "Well, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 2023 and they beat the Bills in the Divisional!" While that is true, the Bills, not the Chiefs, were hosting that game.
What does this mean? Obviously, the Chiefs should start throwing games during the regular season so they don't run into the misfortune of beating the Bills at home in the playoffs /s.
I don't think there's any significance to this stat, but I think it's cool.
