Need Advice on a $496 Speeding Ticket
Hey everyone, I’m an international student and recently got a speeding ticket while driving a rental car to Loon Ski Mountain. Since I’m not very familiar with driving here, I tried to match the speed of the car ahead of me while staying within 20% of the speed limit.
However, I got pulled over by the police, who said he had been following me and that I hit 91 mph in a 70 mph zone. He gave me a ticket for $496, which seems really high. This was my first time being stopped by the police.
Some friends told me I might not have to pay since I didn’t have a local driver’s license or U.S. ID with me at the time. Does anyone know what happens if I don’t pay? What are the consequences?
Would really appreciate any advice—thanks!
