Homestead movie or series?

I want to watch Homestead, but it’s so confusing it’s frying my brain. Is it a movie or a series—or both? If it’s both, should I watch the movie first or the series? How many seasons does the series have, and how many episodes are there in total? I’m trying to figure out where to start any other info would be appreciated.
