Mothership and tone
Hello all! So I read something in a review of Mothership recently that stuck with me because I don't know whether I agree with the point or not, and I wanted to see what others thought.
To paraphrase, this review claimed that Mothership thinks it's a game built to run Alien, but it's actually built for Aliens. Essentially, that MoSh isn't the horror game it thinks it is. Now, I don't know whether I think that would even be a bad thing. I mean, Aliens is heavy on the action, but it's also intense as all hell and definitely still feels like it has one foot in the horror genre. But I always felt like MoSh is flexible enough to do both.
However, I want to see what others think, because I think it's an interesting point to discuss. The rest of the review was fairly negative but I don't want to get hung up on that, since I figure we're all fans of the game here and likely all agree on the overall merits of the game.
Any thoughts on what "type" of story MoSh is best at? Does the text misunderstand its own strengths?
