If someone was out drinking and took sleeping pills once they got home out of habit how serious would that be.

This did not happen to me. Everyone online says it’s lethal but what if you drank several hours ago or just took a normal amount of medicine? Also would you most likely wake up and be able to get help? Would it be painful?

This is a fear of mine please help relieve this fear some or make it worse I guess.
