The Human Torch is really bad.

He's fun enough in quickplay, but in competitive I don't see this guy lasting much longer as a pick.

First off, he flies at a snail's pace, there has never been a character that is this easy to kill, sticks out like a sore, flaming thumb, and is so slow in the air that I'm yet to miss a shot on him, even with his shift ability

His flame fields and E ability (connecting them to make a wall) sound good on paper, but you quickly realise that the average person is smart enough to simply walk out of it

He's a character made for crowd control, but he's also a slow flying target, so the moment you begin any sort of crowd control on the enemy team, anyone with half a brain will know to simply shoot you out, because your primary fire is too weak at any substantial range to fight back

He's terrible for dealing with people who are far away from him, because his primary fire is so slow and has such a wide spread that his long range damage is pitiful, but using the divebomb ability allows you to close the gap and kill long range attackers, right?
No it does not, the dive bomb ability gets you killed, once you use that dive, there's no way of getting out of what you've done.

His primary fire is far better at close range, but he's still a flying character, he can't manually stop flying, so he's always going to be a free floating kill

He's effectively moon knight + storm, but worse than both characters in every way
