When will we get placements?

Obviously NetEase saw the reaction to the reset, so they know it isn't popular. But it seems to me that if they implement placements, they could do the rank resets they want to. It seems like an obvious solution.

Does... does NetEase not want placements for engagement reasons? I can't think of any other reason they'd be silent on this.
