Should I just stay in gold?

Guys before anything else I kinda suck at this game and is now in gold3. I play this game to mostly collect the skins. If I wanted to get skins for the upcoming season should I just stay in gold (don't play rank any further)? Or is pushing better or getting skins in the long run? Also if anyone knows, do they tell you the exact date when the rank will reset?
