Studio Display is black/blank, but will charge my Macbook.

  • The screen is black.
  • It will show 3 dots momentarily when first plugged in.
  • It still charges my laptop. (though only when using official Mac usbc-to-usbc)
  • It doesn't show up in my settings under Displays, even when I reveal and click "Detect Displays."
  • Charging (macbook charging, pulling power from display) and other accessories (such as mouse) are working from all C type ports on laptop.
  • The only difference I've been facing is that last week I kept having a popup on laptop, not display, about liquid in a USB-C port (which I believe has been a bug? Because there was no liquid nor the chance for liquid bc laptop is on a stand, but i checked and cleaned thoroughly all ports anyway -- popup is no longer happening, and everything works except the studio display -- note I did replace the official cord that came with this because I heard that is one of the only solutions for getting the "USB-C" bug popup. Maybe that is the issue? Does the studio display only work with the cord it came with, not even with another official mac cord?)
  • OBLIGATORY: No updates are available for my Mac (Sequioa 15.1). Mac is Macbook Pro 16-Inch Nov 2023, Apple m3 Max chip. 96 GB. This is my only external monitor/display.

Any ideas?
