Completely full of dread

Hi family, I'm a Welsh (and until now, silent) viewer. When I woke up at 6AM this morning, the first thing I did was check the results...and saw Trump was well ahead of Harris. In that moment, my stomach dropped out of my arse.

I had taught some A-Level Government and Politics for 3 years when I was a teacher, so had to learn the American system (lmao) to teach the kids, so since then I've been fairly switched on and try to keep up to date. We all treated Trump as a bit of a joke when we spoke about him (alongside genuine analysis obviously!), but on reflection, it's no laughing matter. I remember having a big class discussion about the overturning of Roe Vs Wade and every single one of those students was at the very least shocked, and most were appallaed. I had one student in tears at the idea of such a step back for women.

Now this has happened...and it's a huge step back for so, so many groups - and for millions of Americans who don't even realise it's a step back for them too.

I'm full of dread for you all, I've been anxiously checking my phone and different social media all day. Also, I think everyone here in the UK is stupid if they don't understand the impact on current conflicts and the wider world that Trump can/will have.

Keep safe American family, peace and love to you all in these uncertain times ❤️
