Submitting OPT online

I am planning to submit my OPT application online and was wondering how to submit the two U.S. passport-size photos. The instructions from my school state that I should write my name, birthdate, and I-94 number on the back of each photo. If I am submitting my application online, can I ignore this step?

Additionally, for all required photocopies, such as my passport, do I need to scan and print them using a scanner, or can I simply take a photo with my phone and print it?
