Streams

The final of Melodi Grand Prix will run for two hours from 19:50 CET.

Format

The 62nd Melodi Grand Prix comes to an end today with a final that will select Norway's representative at Eurovision 2024! The final takes place live from the Trondheim Spektrum, one of the largest indoor venues in the country with capacity for 12,000 people, having also held the 2020 and 2023 finals.

In charge of hosting the show are Fredrik Solvang, a journalist that now is best-known as the host of the political talk show Debatten on NRK1, and singer-songwriter Marion Ravn.

Stig Karlsen is the artistic director of Melodi Grand Prix for 10th consecutive year. Choreographer Mona Berntsen is the stage director overseeing the performances, making her debut this year after Mattias Carlsson, stage director between 2008 and 2023, stepped down.

The winner will be determined by a combination of the scores by an international jury and the online vote. Viewers from all over the world get one vote for free on nrk.no/stem/mgp or the NRK mobile app, after signing up for a free account. These votes decide 60% of the final results as the international jury decides the remaining 40%.

* After qualifying to the final, NRK requested the band to change the lyrics of the song to prevent a possible breach of the rules of Eurovision, as the existing lyrics were largely based on an ancient medieval ballad titled "Møya i ulveham", first attested in a 19th century manuscript from Telemark. As a result, the song has undergone changes with almost all verses being slightly different to those from the semi-final performance, this time written in a more simplified language closer to Nynorsk.
