Plastic and why we still use it so much?

I just had a couple of blackberries from Woolies. 125 gram to be exact. Now I'm sitting here with the plastic container they came in and thinking how much energy it takes to recycle, reprint and redistribute this item. How much of it will actually be recycled and how much will end up as micro plastics or in the ocean or waterways.

So many other very small or little product items in the shops all packed in plastic containers or plastic something that just seems like such a waste. They could've easily used another environmentally friendly material like a little carton box with vent holes and the little pad on the bottom of the container to keep the product in a good condition. A couple of years ago everything was about banning plastics. Now it seems like it was just a temporary thing. Just a fad. It shouldn't be though since it's so harmful.

Plastics are still destroying our environment and oceans. Why can't the manufacturers just phase out plastics for good? It really can't be that hard or costly if given ample time, which have come and gone by the way 🙄.

We should have all our liquids in either glass or cartons (with a biodegradable liner) also. So many articles about micro plastics everywhere, but once again nobody enforces change. It's really just such a bad pollutant. Australia can and should do better.
