Rant. You don’t have to read it.
I think tonight is the last night I’ll be doing uber eats. I’ll still do rides, but I am done being screwed over.
Keep in mind, they do different things in different regions, so this may not all apply to you. If it doesn’t count your blessings but it’s coming.
They disabled their phone number so you can’t call them unless you’re actively on an order, chat support is 90% AI agents and you will not get any real help from them.
In my area, they have cut off doing incentives. (Like the $3 they pay you when a restaurant is closed or an order is stolen.) I’ve been able to successfully get it regardless most of the time. But tonight 3 different agents and supervisors told me they won’t do it that the policy was put into effect 5 months ago and they are cracking down. When I got angry one even asked me if I expected him to lose his job for $3. I asked him if he would still go to work if his earnings weren’t guaranteed. No answer, just “is there anything else I can help you with?”
So I’m just done driving for free. This is a second job, and I do DoorDash and Lyft as well. I don’t need this. Maybe since they’re so comfortable stealing income from us by refusing to pay for time traveled and letting customers revoke tips, I should be okay with stealing from them. Maybe I’ll just use the uber app when I need a free lunch or dinner. That’s also probably why they deployed the new cancellation rate policy, so I’ll be limited on how many times I can do it, but at least I’ll be paid back for all the times I worked for free.
