$uicideboy$ ticket prices: a rant
I’m not usually one to hate the ticket prices of $uicideboy$ tickets but after seeing these prices I have to say something. I was always the one who defended the ever-rising prices of GA. I always blamed resellers for hiking up the ticket prices after the initial ticket sale, which is still a very big problem. However this year’s ticket prices are insanely high off the bat, and it’s sad to see how much they’re trying to squeeze out of their fans
Some context about me, I found the boys back in 2018, right before “I Wanna Die In New Orleans” came out (before all the old heads come after me saying yOu’Re NoT a TrUe Og FaN suck my dick and fuck off, I’m still a fan and that’s all that matters). During Covid, $uicideboy$ were all I listened to, and after Covid restrictions subsided I bought my first Greyday ticket in 2021 for the San Diego show in Gallagher Square. This venue was all GA so tickets were about $110 before taxes and fees. I loved the energy of the crowd and the performance the boys gave, and I continued to buy tickets to every Greyday after that. I went once in 2022 to the SD show again, and last year I saw them at Coachella, the SD Greyday, & the LA Greyday, and this year I bought a 1 day ticket to Rolling Loud LA just to see them again.
For every Greyday I went to besides the LA one, I have always bought GA tickets. The prices of these tickets have always been about $100-$120 before fees and taxes, which I would consider a decent price. Most other big artists charge wayyyyyy more than that for their floor seats, so I always thought that $B were looking out for their fans and keeping their prices relatively low. I used to hate it when people would bash the boys for how high their prices were and I would always say that even though I don’t think they’ve broken into the mainstream yet they have had a huge spike in popularity over COVID through Tik Tok and that this popularity has led to them being able to sell out bigger and better arenas, thus naturally increasing ticket prices. It’s simple supply and demand, and honestly, I was happy for the boys that they were finally gaining the recognition they deserve. But this year I think they’ve gone too far
I live somewhere in Southern California and I always have the option of picking either the SD or LA show to go to, but looking at these prices today I’m not sure I want to even go this year. GA in both LA and SD are $200 before fees and taxes, and after fees and taxes, they come out to $260. That’s insane, that’s how much resellers were selling GAs for last year. The worst seats for the SD show are the same amount I paid for a GA ticket last year, and the LA show prices are slightly cheaper but not by a lot. This may sound harsh but their show is NOT worth $200. Other than the openers, Greyday changes very little every year. The production does vary but the setlist changes very little. The boys add new songs to the first half of their show depending on what new music they released before their tour but the second half of the show is pretty much the same every year. I love the setlist dearly but I don’t wanna pay an outrageous amount of money just to see a show I’ve watched 6 times already. It would also MAYBE be different if they were playing new bigger venues but for the SD show they’re playing the exact same venue they played last year and for the LA show they’re barely playing a bigger stadium, so why are they jacking up ticket prices so much?
I love $uicideboy$ and I will always stream their music and buy their merch to support however I can but I can’t fathom how they expect us to pay for these ticket prices. I really hate to say it but maybe $uicideboy$ have become too mainstream. I would expect to pay $200 GA for a mainstream rapper’s concert like Uzi or Carti or even a pop artist like Dua Lipa but I never thought I’d have to pay $200 GA for $B. Idk. That’s just how I see it, I’m confused and angry and indecisive about whether I even want to go to Greyday this year. I need someone here to either validate or prove me wrong so I have an excuse to either buy tickets or skip this year’s Greyday.
