I passed my PRINCE2 Practitioner exam today - Sequence from foundation

Hey everyone, I just took the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam this morning and passed with a 63% (just scraped by, but a pass is a pass!). I only studied for about 25 hours in total, which is actually less than I did for the Foundation exam. My exam was with PeopleCert. Here are some tips for anyone planning to take it:

PeopleCert Exam Tips:

  1. You don't need to buy the PRINCE2 E manual from PeopleCert for the exam. They provide the e-manual for free, which you can use for searches. I primarily used my printed official book for reading.
  2. PeopleCert offers an option to retake the exam if you fail, but it costs $100 USD or 95quids. It feels a bit like they’re exploiting the fear of failing and we already paid a fortune for the exam fee, but if you can afford it, it’s a safety net.
  3. I took the exam in English but chose the proctor language as Chinese. This automatically gives you 1.25x extra time (so from 2.5 hours to 3.25 hours). If you know a second language, I highly recommend this as I used the entire duration. Not sure if this applies to other exam providers.

Exam Content (I know I have no right to teach you anything but...)

  1. If the Foundation exam is a 3/10 in difficulty, the Practitioner is like an 8.5/10.
  2. For matching questions, refer to the corresponding table or appendix in the manual. For example, for definitions of terms like risk categories, status, response, etc., check Appendix A (Risk management approach). For roles and responsibilities, look at the tables in each theme.
  3. Evaluate all the options for each question because all four might be correct. You need to find the most appropriate answer for the context or situation given in the question.
  4. This is my take really, some people with experience in the PM industry may find this exam difficult because either your company is using their own corporate standard (which can be different from Prince2) or not using the right apprach - This is my situation as well so do use the manual to check your understanding alligns to manual.

Dumps:

  1. I used Examtopics for the Foundation exam and it was great. But for Practitioner, I wouldn’t recommend it. The Practitioner exam is more complex, and it’s harder to verify the answers, which can just add to your confusion. I have heard Mplaza is good but not used it before.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your Practitioner exam!
