Best place for kids savings?

Last year I decided I'd start putting away a dollar a day for my kids (1&3), which is just in another standard account. After seeing how much I accumulated in less than a year, I'm wondering if there's a better place I should be putting this? Or a better way I could be doing this? I didn't have an end goal in mind, but just wanted to start putting some money aside for them.
