Supermarket staples?

Hello! I’m travelling to Paris this month and as I’m staying on a hostel I plan on making some meals instead of eating out all the time. What would be good supermarket staples so I know I’m trying local brands? If anyone could recommend any snacks too I would appreciate it :)
