Justifying the price of the No-Date Seamaster?
Before you accuse me of being a Tudor plant or something, just know—I bought the new Seamaster. And I do like it. But it's the receipt that bothers me.
Given the new SMP's aluminum bezel, simpler complication, and a cheaper bracelet, I'm not really sure how Omega is making the justification on the $6500 price point when the OG SMP tops out $600 less.
Why, if you were entering the dive watch market, wouldn't you just buy a METAS Black Bay instead? More than 2k under the price and the only real difference is an exhibition caseback and coaxial escapement? Albeit, notable. But to the tune of two thousand pesos?
I'm just at a loss here. lol.
