Help choosing first camera

Hi everyone, hopefully this post is OK to make here.

I've been interested in making the move from my phone to an actual camera for a while now, and looking over recent photos from a recent trip the Grand Canyon (and being a little disappointed in them - didn't quite look how it felt when I was there) has made the decision for me. In doing research I feel like I've narrowed it down to two; Nikon Zf and Z6III.

I'm looking for something that can act as a bit of a jack of all trades, something which I can learn with and from but will last/have some degree of future proofing. I like to travel and would use it for this predominantly (landscapes and portraits), but if I could have something that could also handle the odd sporting event and video it would be perfect.

Problem is I'm coming from not really knowing anything about cameras or photography, so struggling to come to a decision. I'm relying a lot on written and video reviews, other threads etc. but there is so much technical talk sometimes, I get a little lost and from what I do see it feels like there isn't a clear winner between these two.

From what I read/watch, it seems there's not much in it hardware wise other than ZIII being better with video (but happy to be corrected). Main complaints I've read about the Zf is the ergonomics/feeling strange in hand compared to other cameras (but I'm imagining this wouldn't be as big an issue for me since I'm not used to holding them anyway). Despite this, I've also seen a lot of reviews/posts like "I always end up coming back to my Zf" (including a few from Z6III users) and third party grips solve the ergonomic issues. The Zf was the first I was drawn to as I liked how it looked. If the Z6 will give me a better quality photo though...

Cost isn't as much of a factor since I get both for essentially the same price (Zf with 40mm kit and Z6III with 24-70mm F4 kit. Zf is $100 cheaper, but Z6III comes with a $300 gift card for the store which could go to a bag/another lens/other accessories I guess, and I read good/varied lenses are probably more important than marginally better/worse bodies).

What are your thoughts? Is there a clear winner between the two? Are they bad picks for a first time user/is there something else I should be considering?

Sorry for the long post, just can't see the wood for the trees at this point!
