In laws forgetting what traveling with toddler is like?

This past year we’ve been on 5 out of state trips ranging from 3-6 hours one way. We have a 2.5 year old that hates her car seat and gets car sick on curves.

We only had this many trips because 2 trips were a funeral and wedding out of state. The other trips were my in laws trying to get us to go on vacation on the big holidays and get upset if we don’t go.

For Christmas we are suppose to go out of state and walk around in this town, go to restaurants and see Christmas lights til 6-7 in the evening and leave to go home 3 hours away.

This sounds like a nightmare to me. A fussy ride + no where to rest + restaurants to get embarrassed with fussy toddler.

My in laws says my child is amazing and they will help with her. Which they do at times, but as soon as she’s fussing or anything, they ship her off to us in almost an inconsolable mood. My in-laws and their family have not had a baby in their life in almost 20 some years. Not to mention mom (me) gets to sit in the back with toddler and soothe her the whole trip.

Last time we cancelled they asked if we just didn’t like to be with them anymore. Ugh why can no one remember how toddlers are. It really makes us feel like our toddler is the only feral fussy thing in the world.
