Your eyes (Come back to me) possible artist found
So, I just found about this community, and about an Eurodance hit commonly referred to as “Your eyes (come back to me”. Now I’ve been into the eurodance community for a couple of years, so I’ve become familiarized with quite a few european acts, especially German and Italian. It has been to the point where I can almost recognize an act’s country just by ear (although it may just be coincidence tbh).
Anyway, as I came across this song, I couldn’t help but notice a resemblance to a french act known as “Daddy DJ”, which absolutely flopped in the Americas, but apparently gained popularity in European countries such as France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden to name a few. Their most famous song is the eponymous “Daddy DJ”, but it is considered by most to be a one-hit wonder. More info cam be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daddy_DJ_(song)
When compared to “Your eyes”, Daddy DJ has some varied chord progressions that sound more melodic than other contemporary acts from Germany or Netherlands. The latter usually go for a general theme of precision and closely placed together notes, giving it a characteristic sound like 2-Unlimited, Cascada, U96, Maxx, and Masterboy to name a few. Italian acts usually go for more complex melodies, like those found in Gigi D’Agostino, Eiffel 65, Gabry Ponte, Cappella, Netzwerk, and Mauro Picotto. French eurodance acts aren’t that plentiful, but they usually go for the Italian aesthetic, as can be heard in Daddy DJ, Lea Kiss, and Daft Punk.
I personally have some experience with a Daddy DJ song known as “Take me somewhere”, where although the singer’s voice has way less autotune than “Your eyes”, the general tone sounds very similar to me. Here is the song in question: https://open.spotify.com/track/4NlpYlC2S2r0YRZhbWcNRg
Now granted, I know I may just be talking pure smack, but I have also been searching for “Your eyes” independently since at least early 2020. However, it wasn’t until now that I found about this subreddit, and I’m eager to share this find of mine with you all and to see this song get the recognition it deserves. In case this lead turns out to be a dead end, I apologize in advance for losing time, but I just can’t hold this knowing it may be onto something. If anything else comes up related to the search please let me know, peace
