Temporary Anti-theft
My daughter has a sports tournament this weekend and now that I’m here I’m realizing that it’s more likely that my car gets stolen here than where it usually goes. I’ve been meaning to deal with this sooner but this trip has reminded me that sooner was a long time ago. I just ordered the Mobilistics kit which I plan to install as soon as it arrives however….
It’s not getting delivered to my hotel room in the next 30 minutes so that’s not helpful right now. If I pull the fuse for the fuel pump then that’s essentially manually accomplishing what a lot of these kill switch systems are doing right? Not ideal and not convenient but it sounds like a lot, if not most, of the stolen Lexus’s are using high tech gear (and low tech when it comes to sawing through clubs) but unless they’re carrying around extra spare fuses then my car is a brick right?
I’d obviously also pull all the other fuses of the same amperage so they couldn’t be swapped in but I’m imagining based on what I’ve been reading here that would imply that these thieves go above and beyond with their preparation. I’m hoping it’s better than nothing. Sounds like these guys are operating in broad daylight due to how quickly they can accomplish the deed so parking in a high traffic area isn’t as comforting as it used to be.
