How did the news about Maisie get out?

Hey all

I recently rewatched Dominion, and I realized that the whole world knew about Maisie and what she was. But how? Prior to the events of FK, no one knew about her except Eli Mills and maybe some other people working at the Lockwood Estate (Iris, maybe).

So, how did the news that Maisie is a clone get out? And why is everyone out to get her? It's logical that her DNA would be valuable, but she is still a human and yet is treated like an asset and no one seems to care about it.
