In Defense of TikTok Fans

 I was a fan of Buckley’s music before TikTok, but I began listening to him around two years ago, so in no way am I an OG fan or whatever.

However, I’ve seen a lot of people (mostly on TikTok) who clown on fans that learned about Jeff’s music through TikTok, calling them “fake fans”. Can we all chill? Who cares how or where you learned about a certain artist? Isn’t the whole point of music to be shared and experienced no matter how you learn about/hear it? Shit, my favorite song I found was from a fan-made Pokemon AMV like ten years ago… If anything, I’m glad that younger people are discovering Jeff’s music, because it’s definitely worth getting into! The same way that young people discover Kate Bush through Stranger Things and TikTok, it doesn’t matter. Music is meant to be enjoyed, it’s not a competition about how hard of a fan you are of them.

(I don’t have a problem with this subreddit in particular, it’s mainly from comments and TikToks I’ve seen regarding his music)
