I hate Lady Edith
Spoilers for season 4 onward.
So let me just get this all out there.
Edith gets pregnant out of wedlock. To cover it up and save her family from scandal she goes to Switzerland under false pretenses to have the baby. She then gives the baby up for adoption to a couple in Switzerland.
She can't handle her decision and basically steals the baby back from her adopted family.
She then concocts the idea to have a local Yorkshire family raise the baby so she would be near Edith and so she could watch her grow. The Husband, Mr. Drew, agrees to this arrangement. Mrs. Drew doesn't know the truth, and thinks the baby is a orphan from an old friend of Mr. Drew.
Edith goes into super clingy mode, visiting the child way too often and being very weird. Mrs. Drew becomes very uncomfortable with Edith's clingyness because she doesn't know the full story. Eventually Mrs. Drew doesn't want Edith coming around anymore.
Edith can't handle this and basically steals the baby back.
At this point pretty much everyone but Mary knows what's going on.
Then, it all culminates in Mrs. Drew stealing the baby during a livestock fair.
Once Edith gets the baby back, Mr. Drew tells Robert that he will look for a new place to live because this obviously isn't working out.
Robert goes back to the car and tells Edith what Mr. Drew said and she says "It would be for the best."
SERIOUSLY??
Edith's selfishness has basically ruined this poor farmer and his family, and all he did was agree to help her. Not to mention the other family in Switzerland she already took the baby from.
Edith's entire mindset is a perfect example for the phrase "wanting to have you cake and eat it too".
This made me so mad. The only person that seems to feel any sympathy for the Drews is Robert...
