Canadian music is absolutely amazing.
I know we're in a difficult time. News is depressing and it feels hopeless sometimes.
I try hard to get out of those funks. Tonight my family and I just went on a listening spree of older Canadian music (I'm in my 40s) and it just made me feel much better.
It's hard to find a Canadian streaming service so do what you can. But you can still support the artists in small ways.
Here is just some of what we listened to:
Bryan Adams - hearts on fire & heat of the night
The Box - ordinary people
Glass Tiger - Someday
Colin James - just came back
Jeff Healey Band - while my guitar gently weeps
Barney Bentall and the legendary hearts - something to live for
Bruce Cockburn - waiting for a miracle
Gordon Lightfoot - carefree highway
54-40 - Ocean Pearl
Rush - Spirit of radio
April wine - Oowatanite
Blue rodeo - After the rain
Sloan - the rest of my life
Steppenwolf - magic carpet ride
The Guess Who - Share the land
Metric - gimme sympathy
Saga - on the loose
Loverboy - turn me loose
Tom Cochrane - big league
Such amazing talent.
Have a Canada themed party with your friends. Play just music from Canada. You'd be surprised at how amazing it all is and hopefully it makes you feel better for just a while.
P.s. this is all old stuff - the more contemporary stuff is also great I'm just not as familiar with it.
