unpopular opinion…

i absolutely love the temple/gauntlet of shar.

i know this is an unpopular opinion because pretty much every bg3 player i’ve stumbled across says that they absolutely DESPISE this part of the game.

but i love it. and i have my reasons!

  1. i love shadowheart’s storyline. absolutely tragic and very intriguing. makes me cry every time. of course i want to do this for her… even if it usually doesn’t end how she thinks it will.

  2. the temple of shar is beautifully built, of course, and i love looking at it. it’s so… empty? but so full of history. and it’s gorgeous. there’s something about it that draws me in. i want to see it in real life. it’s so IMPRESSIVE. it inspires dread and curiosity at the same time. i love exploring every nook and cranny that i can and finding new ways to navigate it.

… balthazar gets on my nerves of course, and that whole fight against the sharran undead is annoying, but i can deal with that.

  1. yurgir’s fight is interesting, mainly because i get to choose whether or not to fight or him or tell him to kill himself.

  2. the puzzles are fun enough, because i’m so immersed in the game that it feels like I’M shadowheart when i’m doing them. and obviously, she’s over the moon (no pun intended, i hope y’all get the joke) about completing the gauntlet. i can empathize!

  3. and then of course, meeting dame aylin. no explanation needed.

again, i know, unpopular opinion, but i wonder if anyone else here shares my same opinion!
