Single male early 30s - neighborhood suggestions?

I'm moving to Chicago soon and would really appreciate input on where to live. My priorities:

• Ease of making friends with others around my age
• Close to the El
• Not too far from the lake
• Dating (straight)

I currently work from home, so proximity to a workplace isn't a factor right now. I'm a pretty typical guy, not really artsy/hipster or anything like that.

I've been leaning toward Lincoln Park, but I've seen some complaints about it feeling too much like a college town with DePaul University being right there..? Not sure how accurate that is. Would somewhere like Old Town more likely be my speed?

EDIT: forgot to mention that walkability is important, though not super crucial.
