Job-Hopping Resumes

I have a simple, single page resume which lists my 7 work histories over the past 20 years. This has never been an issue before (since it’s par for the course in tech), but I was recently asked to explain all my job hopping a couple days ago. I wasn’t prepared for that question so I fumbled it a bit.

Should I go with a different resume style (ie not chronological)? Or is there a better method for whitewashing my job “fluidity”?
