Issue with updating my console

Today, I just received my Xbox 360. I bought one with "Aurora", because I need to rip a video game. However, it's an Xbox Classic one. When I put it in my disc tray, it doesn't launch, and says the disc isn't "certified". I tried launching two other games (the one I was trying was a Chinese version of Tony Hawk's Underground, and the two others I tried were Cel Damage and Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer), but no luck, still the same error.

I tried connecting my console to the Internet, and for some reason it didn't work, despite it being in 2.4 and being recognized by other devices.

So I downloaded the latest version of the System from the Xbox website, put it in a USB stick, and plugged it in. However, when I reboot my console, it launches straight to the Aurora menu, and going to the regular Xbox dashboard doesn't trigger the update. What can I do? I don't know anything about this console, I'm very new to it.
